Was the Early Church Better Off Than We Are Today? – Part 3

Tuesday, January 17th, 2006

The Early Church was assumed to have the advantage over the modern Christian in terms of language, culture, and through personal contact or discipleship by the Apostles. I dealt with the issue of language differences and an early Aramaic source for the New Testament here. I discussed some of the cultural gaps here. On this post, I will consider the claim of directly discipleship, or as it is commonly called, Apostolic succession.

Joshua’s People 01/16/06

Monday, January 16th, 2006

The Joshua’s People comic strip series was not meant to just deal with the life of Father McShea but to be extended to the entire parish of St. Joshua Church. As such, it covered everyone living in the geographical region of St. Joshua’s (a concept of community that was destroyed with the invention of the [...]

The Book of Daniel

Saturday, January 14th, 2006

The Book of Daniel is NBC’s latest and perhaps most controverisal mid-season replacement. I’ve given it three episodes to form my opinion. I don’t think it is the horrific danger that those on the right make it. I just think it is kind of tragic and ill conceived. Just who is this series’ target audience?

Churches Don’t Need To Talk About God?

Thursday, January 12th, 2006

This circumstance is because the Church of that time supposedly had four great advantages. In relation to the Apostles, the early churches were closer in time, closer in language, and closer in culture. In addition, it is assumed the early churches had a direct line of discipleship and personal contact between them and the Apostles…But lately, I have begun to question at least three of those four assumptions.

Brad Stine: Tolerate This!

Thursday, January 5th, 2006

Brad Stine is probably one of the premier conservative and Christian comedians today. In that, Brad is one of a kind. A native of Indiana, he spent years in Los Angeles developing his career before moving his family to Nashville. He began his career blending comedy and magic, touring college auditoriums and comedy clubs, eventually [...]
